About Us

Bridgewater Cares Transit is committed to providing safe, reliable, and affordable transportation services for its customers. As a first come, first serve transportation service for Bridgewater residents and BSU Students, we strive to accommodate as many individuals as possible while prioritizing the needs of seniors and people with disabilities. Services are administered by the Town of Bridgewater and primarily funded by MassDOT, the Town of Bridgewater, Bridgewater State University.

Service Area

Our primary service area includes: The entire Town of Bridgewater, Trucchis (West Bridgewater), Market Basket (West Bridgewater), Compass Medical (East Bridgewater), Ocean State Job Lot Plaza (East Bridgewater), YMCA (East Bridgewater), Walmart (Halifax). Our transportation coordinators are available Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding our services. They can be reached by phone (508) 697-0929 or email.

Fares and Other Information

Fares are $3.00 each way per person. Customers are charged for No Shows (cases where the vehicle arrives at your booked location and you do not come out within 5 minutes), but not Cancellations (cases where you let us know you don’t need the trip you booked prior to us arriving). Each trip is for one origin to one destination; customers must book another trip if they would like to go elsewhere (which will be placed at the end of the queue). Drivers are instructed not to wait at a drop off location awaiting a customer to rebook, even in cases of short errands. Drivers do not accept tips and are fully trained, professional individuals.

Prioritizing Seniors and People with Disabilities

While our services are available to anyone who needs them, we give priority to seniors and people with disabilities. This includes both permanent and temporary disabilities, as we recognize the importance of equal access for all individuals. Individuals that do not fall into these categories will be accommodated based on excess availability. Please contact our travel coordinators to discuss availability.

First Come, First Serve Basis

At Bridgewater Cares Transit, our fully accessible vehicles operate on a first come, first serve basis. This means that customers are serviced in the order they book their ride. We do not accept reservations or hold spots for specific individuals, as this would be unfair to others who may also need transportation.
